The MOMA

image

This painting gave me mixed feelings. From the distorted reality of the appearance of the females. The explicit revealing of the breast of one the females. To the mysterious look that were perceived in their eye by the darkness around them and the coloring of the eye area. As if they were a witches in a story tale. Also the disfigurement of the lady arm on the right. This picture put me  in amusing astonished feel. To be honest it was the revealing part is what intrigued me based on the other painting that was being showed in the room. The moment I walked I pointed to this painting. The mysterious expliciness emerged all the weird vibe I got from the painting, however, oddly wasn’t a bad feeling. I quite fond of the overall work.

Moma Design

This design stood out to based the the goal of this design and it’s creativity. It was fascinating to watch the progress of the lines that represented the mph of wind. The more closer the lines were would represnt strong winds. This one of perfect example of ulitizing technology to it best. If during my science class there was chapter that was convey digitally as such I was be intrigued the entire class period. I was highly fond of this design and it’s quite frankly breath taking.

The Moma Painting analysis

image

I found this painting by far impeccable the lack of any obvious symbolism. It upsurge deep thought and small comparison. The clouds or better yet smoke to what appears to be coming from the ground, the randomness within this image is baffling and intriguing at the same time. The cartoon like feel also reminds me of past sitcoms I used to watch as a kid.

EXCERPTS FROM EDITING FILM

Preble’s Artforms Chapter 10: Moving Images Film and Digital Art

Film Editing– the process by which an editor complies shots into scenes and into a film.

Shot– any uninterrupted run of a film camera; shots are complied into scenes, then into movies.

Editing is so important because editing not only gives the film a professional finished look it gives a film the best possible outcome. Some shots that are taken are not necessary and unwanted. Editing is revision and it can turn unfished project into a stunning entertaining motion picture. Uniquely, editing and shots go hand in hand together and they help one another to create full length feature.

Design in our lives. Pick one object at MoMA that you think fulfills it’s function, and one that does not.

This Jeep you see up above was designed for war during World War II. It’s a dark forest green heavy built machine. It looks like it can handle any land obstacle, for instance, rocks, desert, mud, slick slopes etc. There are no doors at the side so there are some pro’s and cons. It is easier to get in and out of the vehicle but if you fall out it’s going to hurt.” The Army needed a small, powerful, four-wheel drive vehicle capable of transporting 500 pounds. It had to perform well on and off road.” (MoMA)

Thomas Heatherwick (British, Born 1970), Spun Chair, 2009 Polyethylene

This piece was created by Thomas Heatherwick in the 1970’s. It is made out of plastic in a process called ” rotational molding”. It does not a fuctional design because this chair looks uncomfortable to seat in because it’s not seated in a flat way so it’s not steady. The chair has no support for anyone to seat in. It’s slanted and tilted so gravity is not a friend with this chair. The design is striped in a circular way with red and white.

Personally, I have never heard or seen this museum before I walked in, so I didn’t know what to expect. The museum is on 36-01 35th Ave in Astoria. This was the best museum trip thus far. This museum is intricately done in a way to show you the history of film. I really liked the layout and the bright pink letters outside of the building. It looked really polished and well thought out to draw people on the outside inside. This museum was an eye opener. We viewed collectables from the 1900’s as well as other ages. It’s cool to see how much television and motion picture has changed for entertainment and enjoyment of cinema from past to present.Makeup artist Ve Neill spent four hours putting together the makeup for Robin Williams everyday during the making of the film Mrs. Doubtfire. It is a multi-piece mask made for free facial expression and for a more flawless believable look. The Mrs. Doubtfire costume was amazing. It was the exact replica of the character of Robin Williams played.

 MAKE-UP
ms
Mrs.. Doubtfire suit and costume
They had in display the kind of make up movie stars would wear to act on screen. I read that they COULD NOT go on screen without makeup men and female no exclusions. It shows how make up is used to create characters for each motion picture. All the makeup was necessary to get the perfect look for the film. It was interesting because I remember when I used to watch television, I could now see how everything was done before it was put on a motion picture.

Chapter 1 Questions ✨

untitled

Janet Echelman “Her Secret is Patience.” Wikipedia – $2.5 million public art sculpture commission designed by artist Janet Echelman for the city of Phoenix

The textbook (Preble’s Art forms) states that art is “the visual expression of an idea or experience, formed with skill through the use of a medium”. ( 3) For example, Janet Eichelman’s sculpture “Her Secret Is Patience”, 2009.I agree that Janet E. shows art through her own eyes because The artist shows a variety of shapes, vibrant colors, and expression to show different kinds of insights and emotions.

What Is Creativity?

According to the text (4), Creativity is the ability to bring forth something new that has value. We discovered that there are five traits to define creativity. Associating, Questioning, Observing, Networking, and Experimenting. Associating – The ability to make connections. Questioning- Asking why things function as they do. Observing- Intently watching the world around. Networking- Being willing to interact with others. Experimenting- Exploring new possibilities (5). In Robin Rhode’s artwork “He got game”, 2000.I agree that the picture shows a lot of creativity and movement. It’s really special how the artist used each photo of the guy playing basketball to represent changes in his athletic jump to the hoop.

\What are some ways that art relates to reality?

Art In reality is at times altered to the imagination of the artist who creates a new perspective or outlook. The textbook (Preble’s’ Art forms) states that Artist may interpret what they see in the physical world, or they may alter appearances (9). Nevertheless art is accessed through our own eyes.

What is the difference between looking and seeing?

Looking is just a brief glance. Seeing is really taking your time to see. The text says, “The verbs “look” and “see” indicate varying degrees of visual awareness.”

Chapter 2

hh

The Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Wikipedia Built: 1632–1653 Mughal architecture Designated: 1983 (7th session) Architect: Ustad Ahmad Lahauri

What are six functions that art fulfills?

untitled1

Felix Nussbaum. “Self Portrait with Jewish Identity card.” 1943

There are six functions that art fulfills. It is for delight, persuasion, self-expression, worship and ritual and commentary. Commemoration is personal function that holds a special memory or place of people who are important in our lives. Worship and ritual is used to enhance or influence religious contemplation (25). Delight is for visual enjoyment. Commentary fulfills judgments on conditions or politics. Persuasion fulfills the influence of an individual action or opinion. They make us think more on a certain subject we usually might have not paid much attention to. Self- Expression fulfills the inner expression of when an artist shows his or hers own view of the world.

What separated commentary from self-expression in art?

Commentary art is “Something recognizable but unexpected”.(21) Self-Expression is “When an artist conveys information about his or her personality or feelings or worldview, aside from a social cause, market demand, commissioning ruler or aesthetic urge. (33) The painting “Self-Portrait with Jewish Identity Card.”  This clearly shows a man with a long coat with a Jewish symbol on his jacket and an identity card in his hand. This shows that is a time during the history of the Nazi when Jewish men, women and children were persecuted and had to run for their lives.

What needs does commemorative art meet?

Commemorative Art holds the memories of people who are valued in our individual lives. It is usually public act or building. The palace called “Tag Mahal” which means “Crown of the Palace.” This is a tomb for Mughal ruler Shah Jahan’s wife who died in childbirth.

What type of art might a ruler use to encourage allegiance?

Persuasion is an art form used to influence the mass of public opinion in things like others like television, public monuments and media etc.

PS1 Reflection

The garden on top of PS1 is very beautiful. I’ve never real been interested in nature, but the garden really intrigued me. I Hope they are able to expand the garden a little more and add more beautiful flowers and plants to the collection.
